Road Construction

Let me start out with a hilarious joke that every Minnesota likes to recite incessantly, "In Minnesota we have two seasons: Winter, and road construction". HILARIOUS!? Right? Okay, if you are not laughing, I like you. If you are, I'm concerned. However, I do question the governments gripes about budget cuts and reduced spending when I come across things like I am about to present.

On a recent drive by of one of my properties, I noticed there was some significant road construction occurring on the street adjacent to the building. Being the nosy person I am, I got out of my car to 'investigate'. I walked up to the construction site to see what they were doing. What I found was the following:

If you look closely, you will not that there are not one or two workers watching this hole being dug, but 9 road construction workers WATCHING. Now that is not including the 2 people who actually appear to be digging said hole. Nope, there are 2 hole diggers, and 9 hole digging watchers. Now I'm going to go out on a limb here and say, peeps, if you want to cut the budget, perhaps you don't need 11 people to dig a hole. Or maybe I'm wrong, maybe with these 11 people you do, but I'm just suggesting that before more stimulus dollars to go various holes throughout Minnesota, we reevaluate the job description of hole digging watchers. Just a thought.

Tonight: The final tennis lesson - stay tuned

To some degree I'm sure there are some kooky safety regulations being followed there, but that is seriously a lot of people to dig a hole. I mean, if I were the hole digger, I'd be pretty self-conscious at that point. There's a lot of pressure to do well with 10 guys standing around watching you dig a hole.
